If we're to live up to our own time, then victory won't lie in the blade, but in all the bridges we've made. That is the promise to glade, the hill we climb, if only we dare. It’s because being American is more than a pride we inherit. I know that like miss Gorman, both the late John King and his wife Marie, believed and longed for a more peaceful America, a dream that seemed impossible just a few years ago, but is now a reality. I hope that readers of this book will continue to uphold their dignity and pride, much like how John King carried his profession until the end.
