In 1918, the Irish Guards confronted the German Spring Offensive, defending positions near Arras during the March Push. Despite exhaustion, they held ground during "standing-to" alerts and counterattacks. As the war turned in the Allies' favor, the battalion advanced steadily toward the Canal du Nord. Fighting at St. Leger and crossing the canal marked the beginning of final operations. The push toward Maubeuge and St. Python reflected a confident, hard-won momentum.
