Set against the backdrop of the American Civil War, Scottish merchant James Playfair devises a plan to run the Union blockade and transport goods to the South. He commissions the construction of the modern steamship 'Dolphin' and prepares for the voyage. During the journey, he encounters Jenny Halliburtt, who seeks to rescue her father imprisoned in the South. Moved by her courage and determination, Playfair prioritizes humanitarian goals over personal profit. They successfully evade Union forces, reach the South, and rescue Jenny's father.
