This book serves as a practical manual for women aspiring to enter journalism, stressing that writing competence should not differ by gender. Bennett highlights the prejudices and limitations faced by female journalists and advises them to approach the profession with greater seriousness and professionalism. He identifies clarity in writing, understanding editorial policies, and the ability to find compelling stories in everyday life as essential skills. He further emphasizes technical refinement in both topical and non-topical writing. Overall, Bennett persuasively asserts that women can achieve equal recognition in journalism, as their work holds the same artistic and intellectual potential as that of men.
