As the novel progresses, the violence of revolution and ideological conflict grows more explicit, pressing heavily on every character’s choices. Estridge moves beyond the role of detached observer and must confront the full weight of responsibility and emotion. Palla Dumont realizes that faith, love, and compassion can no longer remain untouched by reality. The presence of symbolic forces such as the all-female Battalion of Death underscores the brutal demands of sacrifice imposed by the era. This concluding part offers a restrained yet powerful reflection on how war reshapes belief, loyalty, and human connection.
