시집 일부는 영문으로 번역되어 『Long After Your Back Had Faded Away』라는 제목으로 함께 선보인다.
Poet Son Cecilia, who began writing in 2001 through Literature of the People and once wrote that the ‘source’ of her poetry lay at the “very, very/bottom of the bottom” (“The Source of My Poetry”), has released a new collection, Long After Your Back Had Faded Away. Enchanted by an abandoned house, she came to Jeju more than a decade ago, and she runs ‘Poet’s House,’ a cafe and bookstore housed in a renovated old residence along the coast of Jocheon. Her poetry gazes deep into the heart of sorrow without becoming captive to it. In her work, the land and language of Jeju, memories of her mother, and small, fragile lives permeate one another, creating a sheltering shade, and within that shade we encounter the steadfast spirit of a poet who crosses even life’s squalor and wounds through laughter and hospitality. Translated by Eun-Gwi Chung, the collection is the poet’s first English-language collection.
