Innovation is a major phenomenon in our society, profoundly transforming our economies, our businesses and our growth dynamics. It gives rise to a wide range of societal, organizational and technological changes. These shifts are reshaping the social and economic activities of businesses: open innovation, collaborative innovation, innovation ecosystems, socio-technical progress, entrepreneurship, digitalization, AI, the circular economy and more ? all concepts that have emerged in recent studies.
Building on this observation, Socio-Economic Theory of Innovation focuses on analyzing innovation processes through their social, economic and societal dimensions: employment, regions, inequalities, strategies and methods. Going beyond a purely technical or market-driven approach to innovation, this book also examines the economic dimensions and actors of innovation, entrepreneurs and businesses, as well as the markets for innovative products and services.
