너무 가난해 먹을 것이 없어서 고민하는 부모의 대화를 듣게 된 헨젤과 그레텔은 먹을 것을 구하기 위해서 숲 속으로 간다. 빨간 망토 소녀에게서 깊은 숲 속에 마녀 자매가 살고 있는 과자로 만든 집이 있다는 이야기를 듣고 그 집을 찾아 나선다. 헨젤이 집으로 가는 길을 찾기 위해 떨어뜨린 도토리를 다 먹어버린 다람쥐가 과자 집으로 데려다 준다. 그 과자 집에는 어린이들을 잡아 먹는 악한 마녀와 착한 마녀가 함께 살고 있다. 악한 마녀는 헨젤을 잡아먹기 위해 가두어서 음식을 주고, 그레텔에게는 허드렛일을 시킨다. 착한 마녀의 도움으로 헨젤은 눈이 좋지 않은 나쁜 마녀를 속이고 그레텔과 함께 도망을 쳐서 집으로 돌아온다. Ready, Action!에서는 부모님이 아이들을 버리는 것이 아니라, 아이들 스스로 부모님을 돕기 위해 숲으로 가고 또한 착한 마녀의 등장으로 원작과 다른 재미를 느낄 수 있다.

Hansel and Gretel overhear their parents saying there is no more food to eat in the house. Hansel and Gretel decide to go into the forest to look for food. They hear about two witches who live in a house made of bread. They get lost on their way to the house, but a squirrel tells the children where the bread house is. A good witch and a mean witch live in the bread house. The mean witch locks Hansel and fattens him up to eat him. But the kind witch helps the children to trick the mean witch and run away. The kind witch gives them a magic bread that grows big in the oven. The two return home with the bread and have a feast with their parents and friends. In Ready, Action! the parents don’t desert the children, but the children go into the woods on their own. Red Riding Hood, Squirrel, and the good witch give an interesting change from the original story.
